The older Fordell Castle and chapel were restored by Sir Nicolas Fairbairn, who died recently. He used the castle as his family home. It has subsequently been sold. I hope this helps.

This fine 16th-century mansion, rises within gardens of great beauty on a fairly level site, enclosed on three sides by the deep course of the Fordell Burn, about 2 ¾ miles west of Aberdour. Fordell Castle Fordell Castle is located at the centre of a 84-ha (210-acre) estate 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Dalgety Bay (Fife). This Z-plan tower house lies on a steep promontory above the Fordell Burn and was built in 1567 on the site of an earlier structure. Fordell Castle Dr. Alistair Henderson In the Shetland’s, in 1582, the King of Denmark gave the patronymic Henryson to all subsequent generates of William Magnusson. By the 17th century, many of Shetland’s Henderson’s migrated to the border regions of Liddesdale and later, evidence suggests that large numbers went on to Ulster and then Fordell Castle which is about one mile north of Inverkeithing in Fife was held by the Hendersons for over 300 years. It is not known when the original castle structure was constructed, but the main entrance tower is believed to date from the 1400s. James Henderson, 3rd of Fordell, started to extend the castle in 1566.

2018-01-02 Fordell Castle is a restored 16th-century tower house, located 1.25 miles (2.01 km) north-west of Dalgety Bay and 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Dunfermline, in Fife, Scotland. Parts of the castle date from before 1566, though most dates from 1580 or later. The chapel was rebuilt in 1650.
